End of Eden SL Jennings

END OF EDEN (Se7en Sinners #2)

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Release Date: 2/26/17

I thought I knew what Hell was like.

I thought I had been living it all these years on Earth—abandoned, forgotten, and left with a dangerous secret that not only made me the Se7en’s #1 target, but also turned me into a deadly weapon, a threat to every human in my path.

I was wrong.

In order to survive Lucifer’s plans for me, and his unquenchable thirst for more power, I have to surrender my humanity. I have to lose a part of myself in order to find my way back to him.

Back to the demon who saved me, only to break me.

Back to Legion.

But even supreme evil has its limits, and the real foes never show their devastatingly beautiful faces.

Forget fire and brimstone. They aren’t shit compared to what’s coming.

Centuries-old bonds will be broken. Unlikely alliances will be forged. And innocent blood will be spilled. Blood that will stain my hands for the rest of my mortal days.

I thought I knew what Hell was like.

I was wrong.

Hell is coming.

Hell is just the beginning.

Review

As much as Eden’s life slid into turmoil in Born Sinner, leaving her in limbo at the end of the book and forcing her to descend somewhere that no one should have to go, her actions and choices as well as a variety of issues brought upon her and the Se7en by both old and new enemies in End of Eden do nothing but continue to leave her life in disarray, not knowing who to trust…who to believe…who to give her fragile human heart to…

The lines between right/wrong and good/evil are blurred and skewed, not allowing Eden to see a clear path to travel nor a way out of the hell that surrounds her and threatens to consume her on a regular basis. Her soul…her body…her emotions have never been just hers, which is why her fate is not in her hands regardless of how much she wishes that was the case. Both Legion and Lucifer own a part of her as does Adriel, and for the most part, she has no say in what they make her do or what darkness she finds herself thrust into due to those who want to use her…kill her…save her. For most of her life, Eden has felt the dark violence within her, seeing herself as an abomination…a person unworthy of happiness and even love, and as the events play out in End of Eden, one idea that seems to overpower any other is that everyone around her has their own agenda and are willing to sacrifice Eden to achieve their endgame, and it’s truly anyone’s guess how it all will play out in book 3.

The Se7en have taken Eden in and made her a part of their family, even though one of them betrayed her and put all of their lives in jeopardy, but she still feels like a pawn…like the consolation prize in a game she doesn’t know how to play or win. Eden questions everything and everyone around her because her self-doubt and insecurities lead her to believe that she’s not good enough or worthy of anything but death/destruction, and even though Legion goes out of his way, with his words and actions, to prove to Eden that what he feels for her is solely based on who she is and the connection they share, she never truly believes those words because, after all, these supernatural beings are evil…even if they didn’t start out that way.

There are several new characters introduced in End of Eden – all who seem to have solely their own interests in mind, and those characters who readers are already privy to develop in surprising ways, leaving Eden as well as readers wondering where they stand when it comes to what they want from her and whether or not they plan to save or torture her. Mayhem is reaching its highest point at the conclusion of End of Eden, which does not bode well for mortals or those who are against the Se7en because hell has come to earth and the Anti-Christ himself is gearing up for war albeit in a rather interesting way – one that could wipe out innocents as well as demons and one that will unleash the darkest evil and the true beast who wants nothing more than to annihilate anyone and anything in his way.

There is nothing like a S.L. Jennings’ paranormal story; I continue to be spellbound by the magic she weaves into her words as well as the development of characters who always seem to be part good/part evil, which means that it’s not until everything comes to a head and readers are at the end of the series that all questions will be answered and the battle between Heaven/Hell, Good/Evil, Darkness/Light will finally have a victor…at least in terms of who journeys off to immortality together.
