When her mother’s incessant matchmaking hits an all-time high, Georgie Archibald does what any sensible woman would do: she flees the country.
Seeking refuge in the picturesque seaside village of Vernazza, Italy, Georgie’s only plan is to lie low, gorge herself on gelato, and let the wine and waves wash her troubles away…that is until she wakes up in a bed that belongs to the most romantic-looking man she’s ever seen.
After going out of his way to rescue her, the former London financier turned mysterious recluse makes it clear that despite acting as her white knight, he has no plans to co-star in her fairytale.
But Georgie isn’t asking for his heart—she’s merely intrigued.
After all, Gianluca isn’t just gorgeous—tall and tan from days spent in the sun—his touch sets her world on fire. With him, Georgie experiences the most intoxicating passion she’s ever known, and it only takes a few steamy nights for her to realize that sometimes running away from trouble is the best way to find it.
As soon as I was introduced to Georgie Archibald in Settling the Score, I wanted her story…her happily ever after…her chance to shine in the afterglow of a lasting love. She deserved to find the kind of relationship that her brother found with Andie, and I knew it wasn’t going to come from her mother’s matchmaking skills.
Georgie is an independent, sassy, and fun loving woman who has spent too much time living her life for other people and playing a role that she no longer wants or needs to play for her family. Her need to escape England and find love for herself and in her own way is perfectly justified, and the fact that she simply decides to allow fate to decide her destination fits with the kind of free spirit Georgie is and how much she needs an adventure where she can find out who she truly is and what she truly wants in life and in love!
Gianluca may have been the man who saved Georgie when she first arrived in the city, but for much of the story, Georgie works to rescue Luca…from his past…from is heartache…from five years of memories that he can’t seem to let go of and move on from. Luca doesn’t want to fall for Georgie; he doesn’t want his heart mended; he doesn’t want a relationship with anyone because he’s not ready, and he doesn’t think he’ll ever be, but that doesn’t stop Georgie from blowing into his life and forcing him to see that life is meant to be lived…life is not meant to merely exist or deny new feelings of love if they by chance find their way to you. But until Luca understands that and truly absorbs that knowledge and learns to let go of his past, he’ll never make room for anyone else nor see a future full of love and passion – so much more than the one night stands he allows himself.
R.S. Grey does a fabulous job of making Vernazza, Italy, come to life in A Place in the Sun; the setting becomes a character in its own right and the atmosphere that Grey creates through the people and places in this beautiful area captures the splendor of the city as well as serves as a wonderful backdrop for Georgie and Luca’s story. Its charm and classical look enamors visitors, and it will definitely make readers want to take a trip to this enchanting city.
R.S. Grey is definitely one of my go to writers when it comes to sweet and sassy stories filled with heart. Grey has a way of crafting characters who are perfectly flawed and it’s those imperfections that must be acknowledged and dealt with in order for the characters to find their way into the sun.
I can’t wait to see where Grey takes us next and what characters she brings to life in order for her readers to understand the intricacies of life and love.
